Grading

  • Quizzes: 5% (best 4 out of 5, 1.25% each)
  • Labs: 25% (5% each)
  • Midterm: 25%
  • Final exam: 45%
    • The grade entered for lab 5 will be either the grade you earn on the lab, or your final exam grade, whichever is greater.
    • Thus, your final grade will be either the above calculation, or the same as above except: Labs 1-4: 20% (5% each); Final exam: 50%; whichever is greater.

Policies regarding missed course work

Late lab policy

  • Up to 48 hours late: 10% penalty
  • More than 48 hours but up to 7 days late: 25% penalty
  • More than 7 days late: 50% penalty

Missed quiz, lab, midterm

If you need to miss a quiz, lab, or the midterm exam, please let the instructor know as soon as possible. Documentary evidence may be required (e.g., doctor's note for illness).

Missed final exam

If you need to miss the final exam, please let the instructor know as soon as possible. According to CSE department policy, you will need to request deferred standing. Documentary evidence is required. If you miss the final exam due to illness, your doctor must complete the “Attending Physician's Statement” from the petitions package (available on the Registrar's Office web site).

<hi>IMPORTANT:</hi> If you feel ill on exam day, DO NOT attempt to write the exam. If you attempt the exam and do not finish due to illness, your request for deferred standing will require a petition.
