January 6, 2015

I am sorry that, due to unforeseen circumstances, the first lecture for Tuesday, January 6, 2015, 11:30-13:00, has been cancelled.

The first lecture, will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015, 11:30-13:00.

Lecture notes for next few classes have been posted in the CSE4351 course directory on red: /cs/course/4351

CSE4351 Test 1 will be held on Thursday February 12, 2015, 11:30-13:00.

Test 1 will include: (a) Material covered in the lectures from the beginning of the term up to and including the lecture on Tuesday February 10; (b) Material in the files RTT.1.pdf, RTT.2.pdf, RTT.3.pdf, in the course directory;

It is possible that Test 1 may include true/false questions, questions that require short answers, questions that may require the drawing of diagrams, questions that require slightly longer answers, and other possible question formats.

MAKE SURE YOU READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL THE MATERIAL IN THE SLIDES, AND THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO PROVIDE SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS SIMILAR TO THE PROBLEMS FOR WHICH SOLUTIONS HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED IN CLASS. IF YOU HAD MISSED A LECTURE, MAKE SURE YOU OBTAIN A COPY OF THE NOTES TAKEN IN CLASS FROM A CLASSMATE, AS TEST 1 MAY INCLUDE QUESTIONS THAT ARE SIMILAR TO THE PROBLEMS FOR WHICH SOLUTIONS HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED IN CLASS.

The reports for the topic studies and the PowerPoint slides for the presentations will be due on the last day to hand in term work, that is, Monday, April 6, 2015, 23:59. You are required to hand in hard copies of the reports and PowerPoint slides, as well as submit them electronically into the /cs/course/4351/submit/topic1 directory using the “submit” command.

Please note that the lecture room for EECS 4351 has been changed to Curtis Lecture Hall Room 'H' (CLH H).

Starting from Tuesday January 13, all EECS 4351 lectures will take place in CLH H.

February 2, 2015

The topic study presentation dates have been changed in the file: /cs/course/4351/4351_topics

The first topic study presentation will be on Feb. 24, 2015.

The lectures for EECS4351 and CSE5441 Real-Time Systems Theory will resume, starting from Thursday March 12, 11:30-13:00.

Please also note that the topic study presentation dates have been revised in the file /cs/course/4351/4351_topics to take into account the missed classes.

March 16, 2015

The EECS 4351 project has been posted in the file /cs/course/4351/4351_project in the course directory. Unlike topics for topic studies, more than one group can choose a same topic, problem, or area for the project.

A number of additional topics has been added to the file /cs/course/4351/4351_topics in the course directory. You may choose any topic that has not been chosen so far for the second topic study.

Please note that the format for the second topic study is the same as for the first topic study. However, the second topic study will not be presented in class due to time constraints.

For both topic studies, you are required to hand in hard copies, as well as submit electronic copies, of the topic study presentation PowerPoint slides, and the topic study report in PDF format, on or before the last day to hand in term work. For the project, you are required to hand in a hard copy, as well as submit an electronic copy, of the project report in PDF format, on or before the last day to hand in term work. (The last day to hand in term work is determined by the York University Registrar's Office.)

Please note that the York University Registrar's Office has just announced that the new last day of classes and the new last day to hand in term work for the Winter 2015 term is Friday April 17, 2015. http://www.registrar.yorku.ca/enrol/dates/fw14.htm

Correspondingly, the new date for EECS 4351 Test 2, and the new due date for the EECS 4351 project report and topic studies reports and presentation slides are as follows:

  • Test 2: Thursday, April 16, 2015, 11:30-13:30
  • Last day to hand in term work: Friday, April 17, 2015
  • Project report; topic studies presentation slides and reports due: Friday, April 17, 2015, 23:59.
